Why we hold IAFMCON every year

Chronic disease is changing faster than most clinical training can keep up with. Once a year, IAFM brings the Functional Medicine community of India together to close that gap.

  1. 20211st edition
  2. 20222nd edition
  3. 20233rd edition
  4. 20244th edition
  5. 20255th edition, autoimmunity
  6. 20266th edition, root cause of disease
  • Chronic disease is most of the work now

Diabetes, thyroid disorders, PCOS, fatty liver, autoimmunity and heart disease fill Indian clinics every day. Managing them visit after visit is not enough. Practitioners need the tools to find out why they develop.

  • The science moves every year

The microbiome, functional lab testing, hormones and immunology are moving quickly. What was new last December is routine practice now. One weekend a year keeps your clinical thinking current.

  • Better medicine is built together

Many Functional Medicine practitioners in India work on their own. IAFMCON gives them one place each December to compare cases, question methods and raise the standard of care.

Be part of the sixth edition, from wherever you practise.

Why Functional Medicine is the future of healthcare

Conventional medicine is superb at acute care and emergencies. Chronic disease asks a different question. Functional Medicine answers it by working alongside conventional care, not instead of it.

Learn the model that chronic disease care is moving towards.

One question, worked through for two days

What actually drives chronic disease, and how do we find it? The programme is built around clinical reasoning rather than lecture, so each session follows the same path a practitioner takes with a complex patient.

  1. First

    The data

Organic acids, DUTCH hormone panels, qEEG, stool analysis and the routine blood tests most clinicians already order, read past the reference range.

  2. Then

    The mechanism

How latent infection, gut barrier failure, mast cell activation, heavy metals and insulin resistance connect into one biological story.

  3. Finally

    The decision

What to test, what to treat first and when to stop testing, argued out in cases and in two open panels.

Learn to think this way in one weekend.

The programme, session by session

Every session and both panels are streamed live. Day 1 moves from data to diagnosis; Day 2 connects the dots across complex disease.

From data to diagnosis. Ten sessions and one panel, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM IST.

How IAFMCON changed the way Dr Arpit practises

A doctor from Bengaluru on what shifted after IAFMCON 2025, and why every patient now starts with a different question.

“For years I wrote a separate prescription for every complaint. IAFMCON taught me to ask what connects them. That one question changed the way I see every patient.”

Dr Arpit Dalhiya
Bengaluru. Participant at IAFMCON 2025
  1. Before

Fatigue, bloating, a thyroid report and joint pain came in as four separate problems, each with its own prescription. If a blood test sat inside the reference range, there was nothing to act on.

  2. At the conference

The 2025 programme on autoimmune disease walked through real cases where gut permeability, chronic infection and stress sat underneath a list of unrelated diagnoses. For the first time, the pieces fitted together.

  3. After

Dr Arpit now starts with a timeline of the patient's history, reads reports for patterns rather than flags, and builds a plan aimed at the cause together with nutritionists and health coaches. Patients stay with it because they understand why.

Your turn to think beyond the symptom.

Hosted by the Indian Association of Functional Medicine

IAFM is a non-profit professional association for Functional Medicine doctors, nutritionists and health coaches practising in India. It exists to raise the standard of that practice through research, education and training.

IAFMCON has convened the national Functional Medicine community every year since 2021. The fifth edition, in December 2025, was dedicated to autoimmune disease. Functional Medicine is practised as part of, not as a replacement for, conventional medical care.
